Zajmuję się badaniem ludności Polski oraz innych krajów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w okresie po 1989 roku. Do najważniejszych obszarów badań należą: 1) starzenie się ludności oraz depopulacja regionów wraz z konsekwencjami tych procesów dla rozwoju lokalnego, rynku pracy, podaży usług publicznych, 2) umieralność oraz trwanie życia, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem poszczególnych przyczyn zgonu oraz rejestracji przyczyn zgonu (jakości danych), 3) migracje międzynarodowe z Polski i do Polski w ujęciu ekonomizcnym (migracje pracownicze), w szczególności zjawisko emigracji poakcesyjnej Polaków, powroty Polaków oraz osiedlanie się imigrantów w Polsce.

My reserch interests concern demographic processes in Poland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the period after 1989. The most important areas of research include: 1) population ageing and depopulation of regions along with the consequences of these processes for local development, the labor market, and the supply of public services, 2) mortality and life expectancy, with particular emphasis on specific causes of death and registration of causes of death (data quality), 3) international migration from and to Poland in economic aspects (labour migration), in particular the phenomenon of post-accession emigration of Poles, the returns of Poles, and the settlement of immigrants in Poland.
